Breathe (The Colorado Mountain Series) Review!

There's nothing like the first time . . .

In Carnal, Colorado, Faye Goodknight is the town's quiet, shy librarian. She may also be Carnal's last remaining virgin. For years, Faye has had a crush on Chace Keaton, but the gorgeous cop has always been unattainable. She's resigned to live contentedly with only her books for company-until Faye suddenly meets Chace alone in the woods . . .

Chace doesn't think he's the good guy everyone believes him to be. He's made a lot of choices he regrets, including denying his feelings for Faye. Through his choices, he's come to believe the pretty librarian is too good for him, but after their time in the woods, Chace realizes that she may be his last chance for redemption. Soon, their long simmering desires grow to a burning passion. Yet always casting a shadow over their happiness is Chace's dark past . . .

Now everyone knows that I love KA books.  There is no secret in that.  But this story is a hidden gem.  This one is often overshadowed by Sweet Dreams and Lady Luck, and although both of those books are incredible, I think Chace's and Faye's story is so incredibly deep and powerful.

Chace Keaton has been through hell.  For years he has been in a marriage he didn't want, being forced into it by a father who he doesn't respect, protecting a mother who falls apart incredibly easily, and working for a corrupt chief.  Basically this poor bastard has been through the ringer.  When his wife is murdered he has to face the guilt of never loving her and has to deal with the men who work with his father wanting him to help cover up the backlash.

Paul Walker as Chace Keaton

Faye Goodnight is the ultimate geeky good girl.  Never been touched by a man, lives in her head, is a librarian and is quietly beautiful.  Seriously I feel for this poor girl who has always had a thing for Chace.  But the thing I love most about Faye, other than her awesome geekiness, is her huge heart.  She has seen a kid suffering and wants to help.  So she goes to the newest hero in Carnal, Chace Keaton.

This model as Faye Goodknight

What our girl Faye doesn't realize is that Chace knows her and has always wanted her as well.  Things get hot and steamy fast.  Totally a beautiful story of first time love, healing and redemption.  Chace finds life can be good, if you are strong enough to face the bad.  Faye learns that fairytales and dreams can come true if you are willing to put yourself out there.

One of my favorites of all time.  I give it 5 lipsticks.

    1. Thank you Nicole. Yeah it was a sleeper. I hear everyone gush over Tate and Ty, and they should, but Chace (And Max) are completely swoon worthy as well. Faye is one of my favorites of all KA's books! Thank you for stopping by! =)
