Today I was doing some ebook shopping, as one does on a boring afternoon, and I came across something so shocking it stopped me cold. A ebook on B&N that was $15 dollars! No joke. $15 dollars! So it got me thinking, how much is too much?
Most of the books I buy are between .99 and 5.99. I rarely even see books more expensive than that. I totally get having to pay a larger amount for a physical novel. That makes sense to me given that they are in print and such, but to get a book digitally that is more expensive than I would say $10 is a bit much. Right?
Am I the only person who thinks this is highway robbery? I am willing to pay a bit more for a author that I enjoy the work of. But not at the tune of $15 that I have to digitally download. This made me cringe.
Ok rant over...

Oh, I think we have all ranted about that. I reluctantly paid $10 for an ebook. It was the last one in a series and I really, really wanted it--still I managed to hold out for a month. Of course writers need to get paid, and editors, and so on but--I think that $9.99 was my limit. I love to read and I am a voracious reader--if I spend lots on one book I have to forgo others. I don't recall the name of the book that I passed up at $12.99 so I guess I didn't miss much.
ReplyDeleteHi Cathy!
DeleteIt is nice to see it isn't just me. Of course I want writers to be paid for what they write and I realize there is a cost there to be covered, but sheesh.
Yeah if you can't remember what the book was or even a synopsis it is safe to say it wasn't worth your $12.99! =)
Thank you for stopping by!
