This Man Review

Book #1 of the ‘This Man’ Trilogy.

Young interior designer Ava O’Shea has an appointment for a first consultation at The Manor with the owner, Mr Jesse Ward. She is expecting nothing more than an overweight, cravat wearing, well-to-do countryman, and on arrival, nothing would suggest otherwise. How wrong could she be? This Man is devastatingly handsome, charming and confident. He is also a conceited, hedonistic playboy, who knows no boundaries. Ava desperately does not want to be attracted to him, but she can’t control the overwhelming affect he has on her. Every instinct is telling her to run, so she does, but Jesse Ward is not so willing to let her go. He wants her and is determined to have her. She knows she is heading for heartbreak, but how can she run when he won’t let her?

Hmm where to begin.  Well I will start by saying that for about 97% of this book I hated…HATED…Jesse.  He is secretive, manipulative, overbearing, ridiculously controlling, and all around asshat.  And quite frankly I found myself stopping at parts because I was so incredibly frustrated by him.  Infuriated would be a better statement actually.
I like Ava.  She is weak willed when it comes to Jesse, but she seems all around pretty sweet.  I love her defiance, because quite frankly, I can relate to it.  I would react the exact same way.  And although it is childish at times, it does serve a purpose.
The ending is what took this story from being three stars to four.  It was heartbreaking.  I actually felt the devastation Ava went through.  And for the first time in the book I actually felt something other than immense irritation with Jesse.
However…this story ended with a lot of questions unanswered.  I will have to read the second book now…

3 lipsticks.....Jesse made me nuts!
