Review of Rock Chick

Indy Savage, cop’s daughter, rock chick and used bookstore owner, has been in love with Lee Nightingale, once bad boy, now the man behind Nightingale Investigations, since she was five years old. No matter what ingenious schemes Indy used to capture his attention, Lee never showed an interest and Indy finally gave up. Now Indy’s employee, Rosie, has lost a bag of diamonds and bad guys are shooting at him. When Indy gets involved, Lee is forced to help. Complicating matters, Lee has decided he’s interested, Indy’s decided she’s not. But she can’t seem to keep Lee out of her life when she’s repeatedly stun gunned, kidnapped and there are car bombs exploding (not to mention she’s finding dead bodies).

Indy’s best bet is to solve the mystery of the diamonds before Lee. Lee’s challenge is to keep Indy alive and, at the same time, win back her heart.

I actually didn't start out with this series from Kristen Ashley.  I started out with her Colorado Mountain Series (which I will be reviewing later).  I loved her style of writing so much that I have nearly read every novel she has put out.  And for me that is saying quite a bit.  Rock Chick was either going to be a hit or miss with me. It turned out it was a huge hit!
The story revolves India “Indy” Savage, who has a way of finding trouble in the most unexpected places.  She has loved Liam “Lee” Nightingale for years and has decided since he has repeatedly rebuffed her that she will no longer allow herself to put her feelings for him out there.  Lee however, has much different plans.  And thus the journey begins!
Indy is a ton of fun to read.  Kristen writes her as charming and protective.  Something that I think more heroines of stories should be.  Indy is strong and capable, if not a little mischievous from time to time.  I was a little afraid that the Alpha Male of the story might overpower her in some way, but like most of Kristen Ashley’s books, she found a way to allow the heroine to stand on her own and be an equal.
Lee is what you would want from your Alpha Male.  He is sexy, strong, dominant without being disrespectful and a little scary.  He isn't afraid to cross the line when he has to in order to protect the woman he loves.  I like to refer to him as the guy you take home to mom, but you share as little as possible about him as you can.
There is no break in this love story.  The main characters don’t go away for long periods of time to “find themselves”.  When the romance begins, it goes full bore.  And where there is a little delay in sexual satisfaction, there is no delay in passion. Indy and Lee know from the first moment they start this relationship that this is real and they fight tooth and nail to keep it.
Kristen Ashley puts a lot of humor in her novels and this one was no exception.  You will laugh, get frustrated, and fall in love with this book.  Kristen takes you on a journey.  One that will make you want to know more about this couple and their family and friends.  I love stories where the story is continued and she writes series books which answers the questions you still have about your favorite characters.

This book is a definite must read.  And I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

A solid 4 lipsticks!!!!  =)
