Beautiful Disaster Review

Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate number of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance from the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand.

Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby wants—and needs—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.

I really thought this book started out strong. Then about a quarter of the way through I realized the relationship that Abby has with Travis is so wrong. He is so dependent on her love that he literally stops functioning when she isn't around. This made me uncomfortable and I nearly stopped reading the story because of it.

I continued on, and I realized EVERY relationship she has is like that. Her best friend can’t go to parties without her, her father is a epic fuck up and can’t live a normal life without her coming in to save him, Travis and his family are dependent on her. She draws these people to her because she is needy as well. This girl frustrated the hell out of me.

I would give this 3.5 stars. It was a decent read, but just too many needy people in one book for my taste.  That being said, I will be reading Walking Disaster when it comes out next week.  Every woman I know LOVES Travis and I am hoping that through his point of view, I will figure out why.

This is a solid 4 lipstick novel!
